Homeopathy

Homeopathy was discovered by a German physician and chemist Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843). It is a gentle treatment which uses a different approach to cure diseases than conventional medicine. The main idea of homeopathy can be described as “like cures like” or the way of similars. Take for example, a case of flu. The way of opposites (conventional medicine) is to treat this illness by suppressing the temperature and reduce the pain by taking painkillers. The way of similars (Homeopathic approach) is to give the patient a minute dose of a substance which on large doses causes the similar symptoms to those of the patients. The homeopathic remedies help the body to heal itself with its own healing power. The homeopathic remedies are derived from a wide variety of substances including plants, minerals, metals, animal products etc. The remedies undergo a process called “potentisation”. Highly diluted remedies that contain healing energy are created through this process. The homeopathic remedies do not have side effects and can also be prescribed to very young children and pregnant women.
